Overview

Welcome to the travel blog for the Slater family trip to Europe to explore the the birthplace of Marilyn and Carl Slater's parents and visit the village where their grandparents Jakob and Magdelena Slater emigrated from.

• Jakob and Magdelena Slater (Schlechter) and their son Joseph born in Glogowatz, Romania and emigated to Canada in 1929
• Mary Lakatos born in Nyradony, Hungary and emigrated to Canada in 1935

The trip will take the intrepid explorers through Germany, Austria, Hungary and Romania.  The three week trip will include:

• a week exploring Berlin, the Black Forest, Bavaria and Oktoberfest in Munich
• a week Viking river cruise on the Danube from Passau to Budapest
• a week visiting the two villages and exploring Hungary

The travelers are siblings Marilyn and Carl Slater, their cousin Richard Slater, his wife Cheryl and son Warren.  Dwight Stead (Marilyn's husband) is the only non-Slater and is the trip chronologist.
